You don’t need water to feel like you’re drowning, do you?
— Jodi Picoult (via lavandula)
-Susanna Kaysen, ‘Girl Interrupted’
I watched this movie last night for the first time ever. Five minutes into in, I already had so much in common with Winona Ryder’s character that I was getting uncomfortable. It wasn’t a feeling of relief and comfort because you know that someone is telling a story that’s so similar to yours. It made me sick and scared I wanted to turn it off because I almost didn’t want to know how it ends. I did watch the whole thing eventually, and I enjoyed it to some extent.
“You’re right. I’m here but I want to be there. If I’m there they’ll kill me on the street. And I’m a coward, I don’t want to die. I am afraid.”
